About Safety Working Groups
This page contains information concerning Safety Working Groups that may be active at certain times.
A Safety Working Group is typically convened by OHS & Injury Management to provide specialist advice on the formulation and review of safety policy and procedures. Membership is usually comprised by OHS&IM staff, other staff with relevant expertise, and others who have expressed interest.
Policy and procedures formulated by working groups are later subject to normal consultation arrangements with the University community - for current discussion papers available for comment, see Consultation Papers and Trials.

Hazardous Waste Management Group
About this group
This group was convened beginning in mid 2010 to address considerations about hazardous waste. Hazardous waste may include chemical, biological and associated materials.
The purpose of the group is to:
- establish which waste streams are present at the University
- determine how waste (including hazardous waste) is handled within the University
- check responsibilities for waste have been allocated to appropriate persons.
The key objective is to make recommendations on the management requirements for any waste streams where it is determined that current management strategies are inadequate.
