Evacuation Drills
Requirements for Evacuation Drills
The Building Emergency Controller must ensure that there is at least one Evacuation Drill of his/her building per year. More detailed requirements for Evacuation Drills are set out in Emergency Preparedness & Response (UOM 356).
How to conduct your evacuation drill
Evacuation drills are scheduled by the Emergency Management Coordinator (EMC) with the Property & Campus Services Fire Services Team, in conjunction with the Building Emergency Controller.
As a BEC, please follow these steps to have your yearly drill scheduled:
- Decide on a date and time you would like to have the drill.
- Send requested details to Emergency Management Coordinator
- The EMC will schedule this into the calendar of P&CS Fire Services Team, Security Control Room and the BEC.
- On the scheduled date, P&CS staff will arrive at the designated time and activate all alarms and tones.
- After the drill, the BEC must complete a Building Evacuation Report and return it to the Emergency Management Coordinator.
