Equipment for Wardens
How to obtain equipment
- BECs should contact the Emergency Management Coordinator to request these items on behalf of themselves and their Wardens.
- Items issued by the Emergency Management Coordinator are free to authorised Wardens.
- All equipment remains the property of the University and must be returned if you leave your position as a Warden.
What do Wardens and BECs need?
- Identification helmet as per AS 3645, illustrated below
- Torch for use in case of a blackout (optional)
- Megaphone (optional)
- Pagers for BECs
- List of employees in your area, if practical, to assist in accounting for people at the Assembly Area (optional).
Types of Helmet
Building Emergency Controller (B.E.C.)
Helmet
Standard safety helmet, white in colour with "BEC Warden" stickers on each side and the University Crest on the front. One size fits all with an adjustable harness inside. Comes with stickers
Warden Helmet
Standard safety helmet, yellow in colour with "Warden" stickers on each side and the University Crest on the front. One size fits all with an adjustable harness inside. Comes with stickers. In some campuses the Warden helmet is red. This is also allowed by the Australian Standard.
