Occupational Health
What we do
The Occupational Health team provides important health information and services, including health monitoring and vaccinations, to staff and managers from all campuses of the University of Melbourne. We strive to provide these services at minimal cost, while fulfilling occupational health and safety obligations and legislative requirements.
The University of Melbourne employs an Occupational Health Nurse to attend to the needs of University staff. All records are kept strictly confidential.
For health and medical needs outside the scope of our services, please contact the Health Service or your General Practitioner (fees may apply).
How to work with us
Supervisors and Managers
Supervisors and managers are required to identify risks associated with the job tasks that are completed by their staff. Please refer to Monitoring requirements and protocols for Supervisors and Managers.
If the risks identified require health monitoring or vaccinations, supervisors and managers should route requests for these services via their Local OHS Practice Expert.
Staff
Staff should discuss risk associated with their job tasks with their manager/supervisor. Any health monitoring or vaccinations should be requested via the supervisor/manager.
Health & Hazard Assessment Questionnaire
All new staff, or staff whose job risks have altered, are required to complete a Health & Hazard Assessment Questionnaire before starting work. The HHAQ must be forwarded to the Occupational Health Nurse (refer: Contacts).
