What is ChemGold III

ChemGold III is a chemical management system in use at the University of Melbourne, which allows management of chemical inventories/manifests as well as access to a database of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

ChemGold III is intended for staff who manage chemical inventories/manifests on behalf of a work area. Staff and students who only need access to MSDS should use the ChemFFX MSDS Database [University network login required] instead.

More information about chemical inventories is available from: Key Topics: Chemical Inventories.

Adding new MSDS to ChemGold III and Chem FFX

New MSDS can be uploaded into ChemGold III using the instructions in the user manual (available via the Help button inside the system).

MSDS uploaded in ChemGold III become will also become available in the ChemFFX MSDS database [University network login required]. As a ChemGold III user, you may receive requests from ChemFFX users to upload new MSDS. We have asked that requests for new MSDS are directed to the local ChemGold III user, to ensure that the ChemGold III user is aware of new chemicals coming into the local workplace.

Before adding a new MSDS, either the ChemGold III user or the person requesting the addition will need to:

  1. Obtain the MSDS from the manufacturer/importer/supplier;
  2. Confirm that the MSDS meets regulatory requirements, with reference to:
