What should students do if they are unwell?
What do I do if I am unwell?
If you are unwell with symptoms of a communicable illness, please:
- do not attend University until you have recovered. If you are at University and fall ill during the day, go home.
- avoid public places and close contact with others.
- seek medical advice. Do this as soon as possible, especially if you have a pre-existing medical condition, are an older person, are pregnant or in another high risk category for complications from illness. Please see: Getting medical advice and treatment.
Illness and academic progress
Students who are unwell and unable to complete their normal assessment by the due date should contact their Student Centre for advice.
If you have, or think you may have, a communicable illness, please refrain from submitting any forms to your Student Centre in person; forms can be posted to your Student Centre. Alternatively, you may wish to have a friend or family member deliver these on your behalf.
Students with further queries or concerns about illness in relation to their studies should contact their Student Centre.
