Chemwatch

To meet the regulatory requirements, Chemwatch is used as the University’s electronic Safety Data Sheet (SDS) library and chemical inventory management system.

  • If you need to get access to Chemwatch, forget your password or need to change your access in Chemwatch, submit this ServiceNow ticket.

    Chemwatch users are determined by the need of a person/laboratory group access their chemical inventory.

    User TypeAccess/Permissions
    Everyone
    • Can be accessed by everyone with a UoM’s username and password
    • Full access and print SDS from Chemwatch library
    • Print labels and QR codes
    • Access to emergency information of a chemical
    Read

    Same as above, plus:

    • Read only access the chemical inventory/list in the area they have been assigned to.
    Read/Write

    Same as above, plus:

    • Ability to create new location, delete chemicals/locations, move chemicals/locations
  • Use this ServiceNow ticket  (choose “Chemwatch SDS Request”) if:

    A. You have a new SDS to be uploaded to Chemwatch. Steps to follow:

    1. Fill out this SDS upload form
    2. Compile the SDS in PDF, ensuring the PDF file name is the same as in the spreadsheet.
    3. If you have more than three (3) SDS, compile them in a zip file
    4. Use the ServiceNow Ticket above to submit this request.

    B. SDS authoring. This is to ask Chemwatch to create a SDS for the product you have. Note that there is fee of $80 associated with this request which is paid by your department.

  • Use this ServiceNow ticket (choose “Chemical Inventory Upload Request”) to:

    1. Upload a new chemical inventory to Chemwatch or
    2. replace a chemical inventory on Chemwatch

    Instruction to submit your inquiry to upload chemical inventory on Chemwatch:

    1. Use this Chemical Inventory Form to develop your chemical inventory
    2. Follow the instruction on the form carefully to ensure your chemical inventory is uploaded accurately on Chemwatch
    3. Complete the ServiceNow ticket, and do not forget to attach the chemical inventory.

    Note: you may want to check if you have already got access to Chemwatch. If not, please submit another ServiceNow Ticket and choose “Chemwatch Account Enquiries”.

  • Use this ServiceNow ticket, (choose “Other") if you:

    1. need to obtain any reports from Chemwatch (inventory, DG manifest, hazardous substance register, etc), or
    2. have any general inquiries that are not covered by any of the above topics, or
    3. need to report any issues on Chemwatch.
