Harm Reduction Controls

If psychosocial risk eventuates, it is important to reduce the harmful effects of exposure through corrective and supportive actions. Reporting a psychosocial hazard or psychological injury ensures that:

  • appropriate support is provided to affected persons
  • existing control measures are reviewed and revised

As harm reduction controls do not take steps to reduce the likelihood of psychosocial risk eventuating, they must not be a primary control in risk management.
