Workplace Inspection
A workplace inspection is a systematic process conducted to identify and evaluate potential hazards and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. The primary goal is to prevent accidents, injuries, and illnesses by proactively addressing any safety concerns.
Inspection Process:
- Planning: Determine the scope, frequency and areas of focus.
- Checklist: Use the designated checklist in the UoM Riskware platform
- Walk through: Physically inspect the workplace, observing conditions and practices.
- Documentation: Record findings, including identified hazards, areas needing improvement and recommended actions directly in the checklist.
- Follow-Up: Ensure that corrective measures are taken and are effective.
Frequency: Workplace inspection should be yearly for low risk areas and at least every 6 month for moderate to high risk areas.

Corrective Actions
During an inspection, a hazard may be identified. For any hazard, a task must be created in UoM Riskware and assigned to appropriate personnel to action. Action must be taken as soon as possible and the task then closed in UoM Riskware.

UoM Riskware Mobile App
What can I do on the Riskware mobile app?
The mobile app allows you to complete Health and Safety checklists without being locked down to a laptop or personal computer.
You can also view your own checklists and if you have been assigned a task to complete, you can go directly to it from the mobile app.
What can’t I do on the Riskware mobile app?
The mobile app is not developed to provide checklist management capability such as supervisor visibility or reporting.

Hang on, everything looks black and I can’t read anything.
The app uses your personal settings so if you use dark mode (or something similar) on your mobile phone, the app will adopt these settings also. It does mean that everything (including text pages) becomes dark. You will need to remove dark mode to read the app content.
Equipment monitoring and cyclic events
Health and safety monitoring equipment means all equipment that is used at any time for health and safety related inspection, measuring or testing. If your area owns or controls such equipment, you can use the Health & Safety: Monitoring equipment register to record calibration requirements for the equipment.
Your cyclic events checklist should include periodic review (at least yearly) of the OHS monitoring equipment register.
