Radiation

Updated Control of Weapons Regulations 2021; removed the duplicate laser-standard entry by inserting AS/NZS IEC 60825.14; and replaced several superseded ARPANSA references with RPS C-1, C-2, C-5, C-7, S-1, F-1, G-2 and G-3.

Workplace design & facilities

Expanded coverage to demolition, structural testing, maintenance, pressure systems, falling objects, ventilation, cleaning and external environments. Standardised references to UoM Design Standards and Safety-In-Design Assessment.

20 Aug 2026
  • Consolidated travel risk-assessment requirements and clarified scope.
  • Introduced risk-based routing according to destination, activity and traveller risk.
  • Removed the requirement to use a different form based on whether UniTravel is used.
  • Redirected high-risk travel to the current High-Risk Destinations Risk Assessment.
  • Clarified requirements for fieldwork, health, emergency planning, approvals planning, and recordkeeping.
  • Removed outdated COVID-specific questions.
  • Expanded coverage to staff, students and graduate researchers using any approved travel process.
  • Limited use to domestic travel and DFAT Level 1 or 2 destinations.
  • Added screening for high-risk destinations, fieldwork and other significant hazards.
  • Improved assessment of health, security, transport, accommodation, wellbeing and emergency risks.
  • Added clearer completion, approval and review requirements.
  • Clarified that the form applies regardless of whether UniTravel, Study Away or another process is used.
  • Explicitly included graduate researchers within the student pathway.
  • Clarified the relationship with fieldwork and other hazard-specific assessments.
  • Updated the pre-travel checklist to use system-neutral approval and registration wording.
4. Non-UniTravel Form Withdrawal Notice
  • Reason for withdrawal: The form duplicated content in both the general Travel risk assessment form and the Travel to high-risk destinations risk assessment form. It also implied that the required assessment depended on whether UniTravel was used, which created inconsistent routing for staff, students and graduate researchers. The assessment pathway is now based on destination, activity and traveller risk not the booking or registration system.
